can anyone pls tell me how to rid water condensation in the fuel tank by adding a additive instead of taking out the tank and doing it the hard way.
which addative should i use?
im pretty sure thats what my problem is coz the fuel filter had a bit of water in it and when i put my foot down to go, its a bit sluggish.

drop some metho in the tank. Metho is hydroscopic (it absorbs water) and your car will burn it. Christover has run carried metho with him on trips for years to fix this problem.

If you have an NT zuk it has a drain.

r u sure that is ok to put metho in the petrol tank. if so how much should i use considering its a 30L tank?

if i buy some "lucas" fuel conditioner, will that also help to clean the shit out?

metho will be sweet, put about a cup or a bit less in there.

Would running ethonol fuel do the same thing as putting metho in the tank?
Cause i thought that ethonol is just a better grade of metho?

Option 1; spend a small fortune on tippping crap into your tank, that never really works. end up draining the tank a couple of times, thinking you can solve it, stuffing a couple of filters only to have the proplem mysteriously reappear a month later.
Option 2; take the tank out, clean it out properly. replace your fuel filter. no more problem. More work now, less work later.

try a product called fuel doctor you can pick up a bottle from supercrap for about $16 i think. what it does is send the water to get burnt first, it also cleans out the fuel lines and ungunks the whole fuel system.

Um, sean, you might want to re read that last post before I send it to the poolroom

"Send the water to get burnt first" ????? A) water doesn't burn and B) fuel is lighter than water so the water sits in the bottom of the tank.

It may infact be a hydroscopic agent, so it will absorb the water and then mix with the fuel to carry the water in suspension through the fuel system.... just like Metho.

I kinda understand your point but paying $16.00 for a product that may or may not work is false economy. Dropping the tank takes an hour, maximum. a new fuel filter - $5, and then it is all fixed.

If there is a small amount of water in the tank, metho will fix it for almost free. if it is more than a few ml, the tank will hae to come out and no amount of snake oil will fix it, which was Liam's point.

PS my guess is that there is a fair bit of water in your tank and if metho doesn't work after putting a cup in and changing the filter then just drop the tank and fix it properly.

Just punch a hole in the bottom of the tank, let it drain, then coon up the hole!

Nah seriously, if you were worried about it happening again in future you could fit a racor fuel/water separator, then you can drain the water out easy, plus you have an extra filter in the system which is a good thing.

hey all, i just bought some metho before and put a cups worth in and it seems to have fixed the problem. i love it when things can be fixed easily .
if it happens again ill try it again and put a new filter in and if that doesnt fix it, well i guess the fuel tanks coming out and getting a clean.

Yes, otherwise the same as WT.

Coiler tanks ave a different hose arrangement (emissions) and the swirl pot for EFI. They also bolt into a leaf car but obviously need the hosing adjusted.
