previous model prado and diff ratios??

Post by udm »

Got a friend who wants to know if all previous shape prados have the same diff ratios?

The guy is a profesional diesel truck mechanic, so he is thinking of sticking a diesel into his new prado, but needs to know if the diff ratios are ok?

Please no questions, as I know "nothing" about the car, all I know is that it is a top of the range, previous shape prado, and it is petrol, he cant find a decent buyer so he will just keep it and convert it... and he doesnt want lpg.

Thanks
Ulises

I can't quote off-hand anything other than manual V6 (4.3), each engine had it's own ratio, and the auto models were different to the manuals.

Thanks mate, ive kinda also gathered that petrol have 4.3 and diesels 4.5 sorta... so I dont see such a big ratio difference for this guy to be worried about anyway.

Cheers

Going by that, worst case would be slightly lower revs than a standard diesel, might need more gearchanging for hills if it's outside the powerband on the hwy.
It's unlikely to be really noticible.
