100 series clutch problem???

Post by Willy Hilux »

Just bought a 98 100 series , 5 speed manual, Petrol. Got a problem with the clutch. When you drive it normal - NO PROBS, When you drive it hard the clutch pedal doesn't feel right between 2nd & 3rd and when you go to change gear it feels like it is still grabbing.
Bled the slave cylinder and adjusted the pedal free play to give more pressure.

It also happened when I was under braking with towing comp truck and trying to find a gear down a hill to turn a corner.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds more like a sincro issue. Although my 80 series was very similar. I just put it down to the gearbox design. They really were not designed to shift fast.

From what you've just described i'd be thinking syncro worn aswell mate. They don't like being shift hard or fast. Second usually suffers the most.

Ok, but why the different feel of the clutch pedal when this happens?? It feels like there is no spring in the pedal if you know what I mean.

At what sort of Revs are you trying to change gears?

But this also happened when I was under brakes down a hill with a load. Same pedal feel, same feel of the gear change where it doesn't want to go out of gear or then go in.
