wanting to know what people believe to be the best quality head gasket. also the thickness range i have been told the notches in the side determine how thick it is ? i am about to replace mine and dont want to do it again :cry:
80 series with chrome wheelnuts !!

aftermarket gaskets come in 1,3 or5 notches, if you have 2 or 4, it is factory gasket. To get the right gasket, you use thesame unless you are playing with pistons, in which case you need to measure piston protrusion past block, mine was 12 thou...so i needed a 5....you dont need Tioyota gaskets, toyota make cruisers not gaskets, they buy from the cheapest quote and by the container load....good quality aftermarket is what i used, make sure you get new bolts aswell, all 24 of them....don kyatt or diesel australia sell good quality stuff....do some surfing
As a comparison, i paid $1600 for a full rebuild kit, toyota wanted $250 per piston, kit came with 6 acl pistons aswell as everything including a new water pump.....and it is running like a train now its run in...
