Any PVC snorkel Pics

Has anyone got, or got any pictures of zuks with PVC snorkels, I just wanna see how they look, because if they dont look to bad i will make one, which will be most convenient for me, because im a plumber.

So any pics? anyone who can say if they look alright, it shouldnt matter too much its only a zuk. thanks

I think that I will be making a pvc one, will just paint it black and it should look fine. The expensive bit is if you want to use a genuine ram head, cheapest I've found them new is 100 bucks on ebay.

had one on but never made it big enough it worked ok till i leaned on a tree making another one but it will be stainless steel :snipersmile:if you need a head go to your nearst truck acc store

I was just about to start a new thread because there was nothing in the bible on snorkels.
I have raised flares so I can no longer run my snorkel from the air box straight out the gaurd so I,ll have to run it up to behind the battery and go through there.
Does anyone have pics of how they have done it? I think grimbo used to have a notch in the bonnet any pics of this.

why do u need a genuine one? whats the advantage, couldnt u just have a 90 deg bend pointing forward or just have it pointing down to stop water getting in? Or are you talking about just for looks?

What size pipe will you use? i am thinking 65 or 80mm?

go 80mm and i had a 90deg bend on mine i heated the end and reshaped it

You dont have to have a genuine ram head, I was just saying that it would be the most expensive part IF you wanted to use one.

Im not sure if I will or not yet, I like the idea of being able to turn it backwards in the mud, but I will see what I can come up with.....

This is mine that i am working on..... Head not quite done yet, has been bashed a few times and still good.

Diff breathers connect in the bonnet, cost me nothing so i am happy especially after taking on water a while back.....

did u find that 50 mm was big enough, i supose that the stock tube bit is only 50 mm, but the snorkel is a fair bit longer though, i thought 50 mm might have been too small

made mine about 3 years ago and it has worked well. glued it together and then wrapped it up in black duct tape.

yeh it is from memory. used 3m of pipe with 2x 90 bend and 2x 45 bends and a 65mm cliphead to fix it to botom antena bolt. iI also increased the input pipe into the airbox and siliconed it up.

The only reason for going the bigger 65mm pipe was to increase air flow to the weber carby i was running back then.

I was going to build one on my Tara but just forked out for the Safari and am lad i did as it compliments the whole look of the car.

You should be able to pick up a ram head cheap as some of the 4x4 shops over here throw them out when they do the mining cars with the big pre filters.

Maybee contact one of the mobs who to mining fit ups.

My original snorkel was 2 1/2" exhaust pipe ran straight from carby adapter through the front part of the gaurd and up to a pod filter on top. I did away with the original air box as I had the pod filter on top. It looked good and went good but was very loud! It was also a p.i.t.a. when it rained.
This time im keeping the stock air box and will still use 2 1/2" tube but not sure how Im going to do the 90 bend out the guard with another 90 straight of it up the windscreen.

mine was made from 3" steel tube but this shows where it was mounted throygh a notched hole in the side of the bonnet as per NIK's request.

Be careful with the PVC ones as thhey have a tendancies to explode into lots of little bits if hit hard enough withh a branch or if you put any sort of weight onto them, just ask Christover

You should be able to pick up a Donaldson Air Ram Head from a trucking supplies shop for around 35 bucks for a 3inch one and less for smaller diameters.

this is my snorkle...just rubber bends and aluminium pipe i got for free.

not the best pic but you get the idea. Bunnings sell a drainpipe flywire mesh protector which fits perfectly onto the 3inch rubber bend pipe to stop leaves and mud chunks getting into the intake....

Originally I had a exhaust shop make me a snorkel. It was awkward and hung down low and went through the guard like many of the others on here. When we were building the exo it was decided to tie the snorkel into it. To maintain the lines of the exo and to tuck the snorkel in as much as possible it made sense to run it along the top of the fender and in through the side of the bonnet

I know what your saying. Mine will be steel and I want to keep it in close just trying to figure out how to do 2 90 bends so close if I go beside the battery then out and up.

By the way, built4thrashing, did u have to move that side indicator or did some modles just have them in different places

They moved back to behind the wheelarch in something like 1991/92.
