update on the head
well guys... finally pulled the head off of my rig an took a look.. turns out i got REAL lucky... the exhaust valves on piston # 1 are shot.. bent big time... the piston looks to be in great shape though.. jus 2 little nicks from where it hit... apparently piston # 3 hit valves as well... but no damage to those valves... thank god. everything on the head looks goood except for one thing... i have a crack in my valve guide for piston # one.. thank god thats the only thing that is cracked... i know that they are pressed in so i'm wondering if i can get em out an get new ones an press those in.. my only issue is.. how do i get them to stay in? any ideas? while the head was out.. i mangaged to take a good solid look at my exahust... omg.... i've got over 9 cracks! an i'm still counting.. 7 of them are major cracks so.. while i'm at it.. i'm going to go look for those hot bit extractors an see if i can get em shipped over here... i know of one person on this forum that has that extractor fitted... any complaints? can someone pls give me a link or an address to the site so i can order the extractor? thanks. forgot to mention... the head that i stripped off of the parts truck.. its no good... wrapped big time... its off by 9,000's of an inch! but the cam an valves an everything else are ok so i can strip it down still. i also found a head, intake, an exhaust gasket.. its gonna run me $110 jus for those 3..... its pretty high for me... but is that close to what other peeps have paid for theirs?? any info would be helpful. thanks guys

It's me who's been trying to get the Hot Bits headers. Don't waste your time trying to deal with the Aussie joint in Melbourne that sells them (AXT Turbo) I'm sure they've distribuotrs in the USA for them anyway.
They've done nothing but stuff me around for the last two months and refuse to Email me the details of what's going on......
Toyhatsu's got Lukey's and reckons they're good - just not mandrel bent. I've heard a few good reports from other owners on them too. Supposedly Genie don't any to suit Ferozas anymore; and there have been reports of the MRT ones cracking.
Take your pick!

extractors
have any of you guys ever considerd just having an custom extractor. Most of the "boy racer shops" will have someone who custom build them I got quoted $241 inc. for a cr10 steel extractor from pitstop of all places so rust is not a problem and cracks should not be a problem as the expantion rate is fast and almost the same as alu... . All the places I went to said no dont go stainless it will crack how true this is I dont know. Also at more than double the price it only comes with a 5 year waranty cr10 gets 4 so I have orderd a set will take two days to be built and they need the old gasket so they can mach the profile and have a new one made. No one in NZ has an prefab.. aftermarket unit. Price seems to be reasonable just the free flow has me worried I wanted to go 2.5" but everybody said to go 2" du to noise. What do you guys think.
SA Kiwi damd what a combo. Mus have been made in bog.
Update on the Genie headers. $297 fitted. Got quoted $350 supply only!!?? direct from Genie. Since they've been on the exhaust system still sounds like its leaking even though there is no blowing at the joints or gaskets. Must be the way they sound. Slightly better midrange power but a slight flat spot at 4000rpm, i'm still using the standard system + cat though. Need to look at improving the inlet side of things before the exhaust me thinks. Need to get more air into the engine and sort out a snorkel(did anyone find out if the Airtech Nissan MQ Patrol can be moded to fit?). Getting rid off all that inlet pipework along with adding a free flowing air filter must add some extra ponies. Maybe some head porting would do some good too. It used to work wonders on my old Mini !!
Clint wrote:I had genie extracters and a full 2" system fitted a few moths ago. Cost me $600 supplied and fitted. It sounds great, has a nice burble.
That's a good price. Did you get mandrel bent for that?
Also, where did you get the Genie's from?
I need to start looking around for another brand as the Hot Bits ones aren't going to happen.... Did I mention AXT Turbo in Dandenong, Victoria and how bad their customer service is?
David
Got them through the local exhaust place here in bundy. He had to weld a nut on for the O2 sensor to screw into. But i found out when i picked it up that an "Exhaust System" doesn't include the cat. I don't think it is mandrel bent, i haven't been under there for a while.

Limited Edition 95 Roza & 2006 ST Patrol Coil Cab Ute.... both a work in progress.

well people.. i got my "roza" back tonite.. an man she purrs... at the expense of $450 us total to rebuild the head... well worth every penny though. this is going to set me back a while on my other projects but life goes on. so we were able to get new valve guides an press em in.. i was a bit concerned with the valves possibly falling out due to the alum. head.. but the head gasket kit included valve guide seals with snap ons. so that prevents that problem. took her for a run an for the first time, i heard nothing! except that newfound whistling... damn that exhaust head... so.. any recs. for a header?? an prices?

Hallo, just to alert you on incredible experience i had with HotBits:
i live in Italy and was looking for a exaust header for my Feroza so i get in contact with Hot Bits (Andrew Holdsworth) at Dandenong, Victoria AUS.
On mid SEPTEMBER 03 they offered the exaust code HBEM-40-339S (steel, mandrel bent) at 175 AU$ plus shipping. The price was OK for me so i ordered it. On 10 Oct i did the first request of info on my order without any reply. On 16 Oct i did the secong one and they reply that the exaust was in production list but there was a delay due to a damage on the JIG to build the header. On NOV 8th i did again another request of info and today i received the following reply (after 2 months !!!!):
" ..due to manufaturing cost blow out (???) and various supplier problems (???) we will be unable to supply the header......"
I suggest you to keep far from them !!!!!!

Hi Achille, sounds like exactly the same story I got fed!
I even arranged for a Feroza owner in Melbourne to contact them so they could get measurements off his vehicle (after Andrew informed me they needed a Feroza to fix the jig). Then they turned around and told the guy they didn't need his Feroza, and that the jig was fixed and my headers would be ready in a month! They haven't bothered contacting me or replying to my E-mails asking what the hell is going on though.... Going by what they told the other guy my headers should be ready now- but I doubt they will ever turn up.
They can shove them where the sun doesn't shine- steer clear of them everyone! You would think they would provide better service as they advertise 4WD turbo kits in 4WD Monthly magazine and word does spread.

Just received the same Email as Achille re the Hot Bits headers.
Pricks!
Dear Sir,
Due to a manufacturing cost blow-out and various supplier problems , we will unfortunately be unable to supply these headers.
Please accept my apologies for this debarkle , although I have done my upmost to try and have these headers made.
Again , I appreciate your patience in this matter.
Thanks and Regards
Andrew Holdsworth
