Hi guys. I've just sold my Daihatsu Feroza and have upgraded to a 2000 Frontera wagon, so I thought I'd wander over to this forum and see what's happening. Hopefully pick up some tips and insight into this great vehicle. It feels sooooooo good for once to know there's ample power when you need it
Anyway, one question to start. Is there an issue with the fuel guages on these not accurately reflecting the tank level. I filled up for the first time when the needle was on the E line and it took 60L. Being an 80L tank that means it still had 20L left? Also the needle doesn't quite reach the F line when filled and after only 60km the needle is down at the three quarter point.? Normal? Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've asked a Holden dealership about it and they are going to take a look at it for me Monday. They say they have seen this before and will do a few tests to advise me if it's the sender or the gauge. Then we'll see how much it will cost to correct Maybe I will learn to live with it like the previous owner did.
The name's Wayne by the way. I used the name "dipstick" for the Feroza as it seemed I always had my head in the engine fixing something. Trying to squeeze every possible Kw out of it just to keep up with traffic. Hopefully that won't be the case with the Frontera.

Yep. The tank had to be dropped out. The $170 was for 2 hours labour to do it. The new sender unit they graciously provided free of charge was an $860. No way I would have paid for that even if the guage didn't work at all. I'd just wait for the cough splutter effect to know it's time to refill

My guess would be because the Rodeo is a workhorse vehicle they have been setup more for reliability rather than just all out grunt (even though 147kw is not to be sneezed at). Pretty sure that the motor is the same one as in the 3.5L Jackaroo which delivers 158kw@5400rpm and 310Nm@3000rpm . Obviously just been detuned a little but with less weight would probably have as much or more poke than the Jack.
