Disc brake conversions?

Hi,

I currently have a LWB Petrol with a disc brake rear axle.

I am looking at a SWB Diesel but it has drum brakes on the rear.

I am looking at it with the possibility of doing an axle swap between the 2.

My question is will it be a straight bolt in proposition from one vehicle to another?

Has anyone done this?

yes it can b done, but the master cylinder needs to be changed as well to suit the disc rear end, not sure why. Does any body know?

Drum brake master cylinder doesn't activate the front and rear cylinders at the sme time, its activates the rears first cause drums take extra time to grip. this way you get even braking when the front disc's take up.

if you have the drum master cylinder your rears will lock up before your fronts activate,

since you are going to axle swap. you just take the master cylinder out of the LWB which has the disc rear, swap the axle from the LWB and master cylinders, simple job

drum master has smaller piston also

and it bolts in place of the drum one, no mods needed

Make sure your diff ratios are the same too.

Diff ratio shouldn't matter with axles, just number of axle splines

Checked out my LWB today. It has 4.11's in it. So does the SWB I'm looking at.

I would plan on a complete diff change. Roll out/Roll in.

along the same sort of lines, How about disc brake conversion to a mk ? do the come out with disc rear? If not how do i do the conversion what do i use? i hate drum rear coming out of river crossings. SORRY FOR THE HIJACK
