3.4.14 BODY
The body of the make of the vehicle shall be readily recognised and shall be
the same manufacturer as the chassis.
• The combination of body and chassis may be updated with body and chassis elements from later models of the same make of vehicle.
• Body alterations are permissible to a maximum of 50% of the side profile of the original make of vehicle regardless of model.
• The determination of the 50% is based on an area being the portion of the side view that is added or removed from the total area determined by the rectangle of the extreme forward and rearward points, the roof and the ground of the original vehicle.
• Body lifts shall be limited to 75mm and shall be completed in a safe and
secure manner and the spacers shall be a non-crushable material and the
bolts shall be the same diameter as the original body mounting bolts and
• at least grade 8. There shall be the same number of body mounts and supports as the original chassis and body combination.
• Additional mudflaps flares and doorsill may be added for protection.
I dont think I see anything against cut down doors....... Not for this year anyway.[/quote]
You Idiot!!!!!
Maybe you should of kept you mouth shut!!!
Question but. with the specs above does that mean than anyone running different chassis to body example patrol body on cruiser chassis, can not compete?

I think rules pertaining to safety should be allowed to be introduced at any time though. The Big Green Meany wrote:GUYS DONT TAKE THIS THE WRONG WAY......... WE ARE NOT COMPLAINING.......
We play by the rules.. as long as they are set at the start of a series and dont change until the next series...........
Have you cut your doors too far??
Hi guys,
all jokes aside, ICVs are OK as the person who built the vehicle to ICV specs. is then deemed to be the manufacturer by Qld Transport. But the rule about body and chassis being from the same manufacturer has always been there - just not enforced.
Under existing rules - Unless registered as an ICV then a Scout body on a 80# chassis would not be allowed, a bundy body on a GQ chassis would not be allowed and a 60# body on a GQ chassis would not be allowed.

Pegboy2000, what you say is true, and personally I see no problems with hybrids provided that they are properly engineered and the workmanship is good. Preferably with a Qld Transport Engineer's certificate - but this would make it an ICV.
However when the Tough Tracks Club was started we grabbed a set of CCDA rules and based our rules on the CCDA rules at the time to give us a starting point.
The rules have been ammended and updated on an ongoing basis as our club and events have evolved. The club has always been receptive to written requests for changes in the rules.
If you have a reasonable request for a rule change then submit it in writing via the club PO Box and it will be assessed by the club.

Guys I have cleared this up with Pete already , My doors ar fine........
However It dose make it hard when we build a car to do all events then the rule changes half way through a series,
I have no problem what so ever with a rule change espeacialy on saftey and those who know me will agree.
But not half way through a series Thats all Im saying....
Lets Police the rules that are inplace already ....

TT and CCDA should really think about this ruling correctly, as for example 50% of a GQ ute is ONLY the front gaurds (in side profile as specified) therefore a buggy more like RUFFS (except OE chassis) is compliant to the rules!!!

How come these 4x4's have always been allowed to run if these have always been the rules??????
Some people can get away with anything!!!

problem is until some one says NO people will keep goin further from the rules, because no one wants to be the bad guy and have to deal with the whining. I have pionted out how the rules dont get followed or enforced for the last 3 years, and best answer I got was "There not in your class so what difference does it make to you" or "if you dont like it , dont compete" it all depends who you are ,who your freinds are and how much of a show pony you are.
I hope these issues will be fixed as we would like to compete again soon. As far as attending meeting they are a waste of time cos only the same peoples oppinions are ever considered.
I hope Peter can get these issues sorted, as the ones that abide by the rules are the ones that get penalised.

One of the above mentioned vehicles is an ICV, one has not competed in it current form and this is the first of have heard of th60/gqWilly Hilux wrote:3.4.14 BODY

is there any way a panel could be set up to get vehicle plans approved prior to construction and signed off on by the comittee so that no arguments are entered into later on!
or someone to actually put there name on the line and say whether its correct to the rules!!
all this bitching about rules has nothing to actually do with the vehicles but more with WHO drives them!!!
have RULES and stick to them no matter what, allow people to build right to the limit of the rules, and dont penalise them for using their brains! not everyone wants to own a $50k GU comp car that runs std off the shelf bits, some people dont have that sort of money but enjoy making the most out of the old dunger with bits they made in the shed! we dont have the dollars but we have the brains. STOP penalising those guys!!! otherwise this is just turning back into ASCC, which would be a shame due to all the effort you guys have put in to make it a great event. I would love to see TT as the premier all-terrain event in QLD!
IS Tough Tracks CCDA sanctioned??, is there any way i could help out in the scrutineering/engineering side of things?

As a colective group we should ALL help and abide by ALL the rules and also assist in their enforcment. The rules are there for a reason and to be fair to everyone ALL rules should be enforced NOT just to suit individuals. As said b4 by Pete K put your request/complaint /question in writing to the club. Attend meetings and have your say you may not be one voice as you think.

when we started the comp none of the ascc vehicles passed the ccda rules so we modified a couple of the rules to allow everyone to compete with the intention of slowly bring the comp to full ccda rules except for tyres lockers and suspension which were to be of our own spec.
the advantage of this would be getting updated rules that no one could argue with.
i still think we should go this way

OK - the Tough Tracks committee meeting was held this afternoon and a number of rule clarifications and changes have been agreed upon.
The existing rules were written to cover the vehicles being brought to our competitions at the time. The rules have needed updating for a while as the vehicles have evolved, the comp has evolved, and as the issues of safety, insurance and the management of the events has become increasingly concerning to club members and officials.
Letters will be sent out to previous competitors and club members. The changes will also be posted on the Tough Tracks forum as soon as possible - so watch out for the update. (www.toughtracks.org/forum, Public Area, Event Information, Current Rules & Specs )
Some people WILL NOT BE HAPPY with the clarifications & changes - but the decisions have been made and they will be effective for round 3 at the end of August. Competitors WILL be required to comply with the rules or they WILL not be allowed to compete.
It will be no good complaining about changes on the public forum if they do not suit you or your vehicle. We already know that we are not going to please everyone but we need to run the competition the best and safest way we know how. PM me if you wish. ALL queeries regarding rule clarifications and changes are to addressed to me.
I forsee that the biggest complaint will be about changing the rules mid year, but we decided that you can not postpone issues involving safety and insurance - so all of the rule clarifications and changes will be implemented immediately.
I've put this post up now so that everyone is aware that changes are coming and why - hopefully to help people understand.
Regards
Peter K.
