Twin Cam TD42.......Is it possible

Post by Mytqik »

Just a weird thought I had this morning.

How similar are the blocks of a TB42 and TB48???

I am sure I read somewhere that the TB42 & TD42 have the same block dimensions, so if the TB48 & TB42 are similar, how hard would it be the bolt the TB48 twin cam head onto the TD42.

I know that timing chain could be a drama, but would there be any other major dramas???

Do you think that the the TB48 head could take the increased compression of the diesel??

As I said, just a weird thought, but could be interesting if it was possible.

Hmmm, well that killed that idea :). Obvisiously I didn't give it too much thought.

Maybe the glow plug holes could be added???

Pre-combustion...that one ain't easy to get around....direct injection maybe????

LOL, my first thoughts were glow plugs, inectors,

but if you are drilling heaps of holes in it, drill a couple more and make it multi-valve

Combustion chambers on diesel are in the piston and in the head on petrol, so the compression would be way too low for a start and the petrol combustion chamber is a hemi style, all diesel heads are flat. Don't think this could work, Let us know if someone can get it to work
