Does anybody know where the Y61 SWB's are available from in right hand drive?

I've seen a few from U.A.E., but their LHD.

GQ, if ever you are back in the UAE, there is a dealership at Al Awir that only carries RHD Nissans and Toyotas for export. Post questions to me or at www.dubai4x4.com if you ever get back to this neck of the woods.

rego is a problem as the gu is an australian sold car, but as a swb was not available but as a lwb is, the gov body in control of imports still may not let you register them tho

Theres a few shorties for sale here at the moment, but only with the 2.8 turbo diesel, as the TD42T are very hard to get in the shorty.

Bbeause the body is not crash tested here and wont pass without having to crash test a certain amount of cars I believe is the problem.

They will be able to be brought in from places like Japan in 10 years or so when they pass some mystical date requirement and become suddenly safe. All very strange and complicated. There was a better explanation from someone else on here a while ago. It may have been Sierra Jim but not sure

In order for a GU to come out as GU SWB... it will have to come out past the 15 year old import rule.. However that could still change...

In order for SWB to be legit in Australia it would and could only be done as SWB GQ as it will be registered off the chassis.

the 15 year old rule has changed to pre-198? as far as I know, also the imported gu cab will have to have its own vin number which as it was not able to get its own complience plate as an import they are not able to be used for body conversions either, unless someone has other info? Thats why they are used for comp trucks like offroad racing

ARGGGHHH

this annoys me.

As long as the RTA and Government gets some $$$ from it what is the big deal. Let us import then and register them - they're soo sexeh.

This is what i'm thinking. I have heaps of family in NZ who could purchase a trol and bring it over with them. Or even do the complete build up over there, race it in kiwi challenge and then bring it over

its actually Nissan that has the say in it for Patrols... the rules are something like if they manufacture a car or similar they need to approve it to be allowed, and you got fuck all chance of that.

If you move here, I still think they will give you shit. Dont you think that people would not have already done this?

Nissan will never bring them in, there is not enough market for them.. yes 50 comp people, and 50 weekend boys would buy them, but that aint enough to bring em in. they would want to sell 100's to be worth their while.
They only have the grenade in them now as diesel, and I think the 4.8 in UAE?
