Jimny needs head

Post by Pyrotech »

A mate of mine has cracked the head on her Jimny, and was told that ir would be around $1800 dollars for a new one inc. labor etc,
Is there a cheaper way around it then that?
Her mechanic also told her this was a common problem with the Jimny, is this true?
Is there another head she could put on there?

Any info would be greatly appreciated

hey what model jimny is it? I've been around the jimny's for about 8 years now and have never heard of it been a common problem I've heard if you let them run out of water it can bugger things up which also goes for every water cooled engine I know of.

I'll be wreaking a 2000 model in a few days and will need a buyer for the engine but I'm sure it has a G series engine in it not a M series like the 01 models have, I haven't seen the car yet. I wonder what the engine is doing to make the mechanic think its cracked I've seen a few jimnys with the M motor and the fan clutch is stuffed this will make the car overheat when at hi revs like on a freeway it must block air flow, this happened to mine and by cable tieing the fan to the clutch (locking the clutch up) fixed the problem. there was no oil residual around the clutch to indicate it was leaking.
