Post by dkne5 »

Hi has anyone had any good/bad experiences with the lovell's brand of coils and shocks?????????????.Thinking of c/out the dobinsons as the rides too harsh, any ideas/help with the lovells is much appreciated.

I'm running lovells 2" all round and I like em, campared to leafs though anything coil would have a softer ride. They work well for the average offroading that I do. Sorry I don't have an opinion on the shocks it still has the munros on it ATM, more fun tickets = new shocks.

As of the last few months Lovells make their own shocks so you won't get too many opinions on them. They have had Lovells shocks out for a long time however they use to be EFS shocks rebadged.

So far only praise for the new Lovells shocks. They are valved softer than Dobinsons to give that smoother ride but they are built very tough which is evident when you pick them up as they are quite heavy. Lots of thick steel in them. I do have a pick of them on my web site at www.suspensionstuff.com.au and a bunch of detailed pics on my computer but I can't remember how to post pics.

They only have shocks to suit up to a 3" lift for a GQ etc

As for the Lovells coils, same as other major brands, just make sure you get the right spring rate for your application.

Lovells don't actually have 3" lift coils. What happens is people design a 3" spec coil or copy someone elses (much easier) and then get Lovells to make them so officially they are not Lovells even tough they made them. What colour are your coils?

That aside this is good tech, what accessories do you have with the GU and is it too hard on road or just off road?

coils are black and are a bit rough onroad with the rep kilometres i do a year, off road they work well even at speed.

My advice is to fit a winch and winch bar and put drawers in the back then it will ride well. :P
