w/e pics and windscreen question...
Yo
Went to Newnes on the we, got a few pics:
Stuck in the mud...
Different angle...
Just after getting free
(Just added the indicators and parkers on friday night - pretty huh?)
Mate's jeep - aka. "SirCamel"
Me not flexing quite as hard as him...
Now... for my problem...
I noticed a ticking sound from my wipers every time they wiped... then all of a sudden - crack:
Has this happened to anyone? What did you do about it?
Otherwise what do you suggest? Am i looking a a new window frame?
Thanks
James

yer this is a normal fault, i've seen perfetly good rust free cars have this issue.
remove the wiper and its internal arms, remove the paint and weld a small plate the the back side of the hole, redrill the hole for the wiper and reassemble.

That would be painful to weld, its such thin steel. When you fold the front windscreen down, you get access from behind (holes in lower panelling); this may help get access.
Maybe cut whole area out, and fab up a new plate out of 1.5 steel or similar, then weld this in with a very low current MIG.
Otherwise a new window frame is a more expensive, though easier option. I think they go for around $120, in gery undercoat. Matching colour may be the most anoying bit (I know suzuki red can be PITA, your blue may be easier).
Question; you don't have a wiper on that side in any of the photos. Have you been running only one wiper? Or did you take it off after finding the breakage.
Notice your exhaust runs uphill at the back too . Arn't they a pain.
ANother Question (off topic sorry); your spare wheel rim, looks the same as my wheels, where you get it from? (mine came with car). I'm after a matching spare thats all.

Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.
wipers broke
Low range offroad do reinforcing plates but it wouldn't be too hard to make your own. www.lowrangeoffroad.com

Hey...
Tire iron... just used and octopus strap (elastic strap with hooks on each end) and weaved it through the bottom holes on the wheel, crossed over the iron, and weaved back through the top holes and hooked the hooks together. Pretty easy. Could also do it with cable ties.
I got the spare wheel when i bought the tires... sorry no idea from where, bought them 2nd hand.
Yeah thats what i thought in regards to the windscreen frame. Not sure what ill do yet - painting the frame is easy, i have spray painted other areas of the car before... Have been toying with the idea of buying a welder for a while now... might be a a worthwhile investment.
Thanks

I have seen a zook with the same problem that had a piece of sheet pop rivited over it with a hole drilled in it, it worked & would be a cheep fix. Not even real noticable if it was painted the same colour. I welded mine up not to hard if you can get your hands on a mig or your mates have skills.
