NJ Diesel Pajero gearbox swap with 97 Triton?

Post by orac »

Hi Guys

Newbie here (to Mitsubishi 4WDs) and I just bought a 93 NJ poverty pack, 2.8 diesel, 5 speed, vinyl floors and rear leaf springs, with a dead gearbox.

After lots of grunting and swearing, I removed the trans and found 3rd gear, and the corrosponding gear on the lay gear, minus lots of teeth.

Mitsubishi here was $1200 for the two only so I have sourced a 1997 2.8 diesel Triton gearbox and what I need to know is, are they compatible?

Thanks for any leads here as the price for 2 gears is over the top!

Should fit - your looking for a V5M21 box so you can check the codes first before you buy.
The Paj gearbox code will be on the compliance plate under the bonnet but I believe the code is also marked on the box itself as well.
I just luv my "clacker Jabber"
