Well an aicronditioning pump IS a compressor, so is it possible to convert a compressor into a compressor? I think so.
If you want it to compress air instead of refrigerant, then youl need to add some form of lubrication into it, as normally, the refrigerant (and oil circulating in the refrigerant) lubricates it.
