alternator.

Post by toyotroop »

Im looking at replacing the pathetic alternator on my 2H diesel, it never seems to charge the battery properly even though i put new brushes in and all. Has anyone had this problem? and what kind of alternator should i change it to? will it have to have the oil feed lines or can i block them off.
Also what reading should i get on the multimeter with a new one? Its charging at twelve at the moment on idle, witch isnt enough.

What i would really like is if someone has done this and can point me to the best alternator for the job.

thanks. :)

only the newer diesels will charge at around 14v straight of the bat, the older ones tend to take a few minutes of running from cold to get them up to charge around the 1500 rpm mark they should sit around the 13.5 to 14 volts, as for fitting another alt i dont see why not?
