Jeep Wrangler 4 Door

Post by andsue »

We have always owned Nissan Patrols with lifts and diff locker and am looking at buying a Jeep Wrangler 4 door TD auto do you think we will be really disappointed off road and on road with one? Has anyone had one off serious off roading?

CRD have heaps of go. They are very capable...still smaller than a Patrol though. Spewin they havent released the Rubicon model with a CRD. Factory front and rear diff locks, auto front swaybar disconects, 4.11s, 32s. This machine is the most capable offroader straight out of the box - no mods.

Jeep's consumer research division didnt do their homework!!!! Im dirty as well, test drove a 4door V6 and was disappointed, drove the CRD and it was a good motor, although Id say they need to stick the 3.0L V6 TD from the Commander to get over the Rubicons larger tyres and weight disadvantage.

CRD are almost irrelavent in US

they cannot get the ratios right with the Dana 44's

Jeep are selling every wrangler they can make ....I don't see the research issue there

the crd in the rubicon will come be patient - let the demand slow a little then the JT Ute and Crd rubicon will be here

Is that the standard factory sized tyres or have you gone larger again? And looks like a suspension lift also? What other mods apart from new front and rear bars?

Cheers

I hate going to weddings because all the grandma's used to poke me in the ribs saying you're next, you're next. They've stopped doing it since I started doing it to them at funerals.

I recently heard an article on cumsumer research development etc. The article states that in some industries, such as car manufacturers, are still stuck in an old industrial mindset where they are trying to dictate to the consumer what the consumer wants. The biggest change in recent years is a swing to research develop for what customers want... apparently.

Obviously Jeep being an american brand and americans knowing what the rest of the world wants they are still stuck in that mindset a little bit. We all know that a CRD Rubicon will be a massive seller (i'd get one) but the poor jeep execs obviously don't want to sell very many ;)

You'd think that because in australia and the u.s there's such a long wait to get a new Wrangler they'd up production and expand the model...

the Rubicon isnt really a performance division of Jeep (holden=HSV, Ford=Tickford)
its just another wrangler with some serious specs
from the factory it suppose to have 44 F&R diff, low ratios (suppose to be 4.1) and lockers, 4:1 transfer case, electronic disco, bigger tyres and a rubicon sitcker on the bonnet...

everything else are the same as a top end spec wrangler...
