Who's in for diff lockers
I am going to speak to the guy who built my diff locker tomorrow. I will get all the details and will push for the diagrams. Also will get a price for front and rear unit not installed. I am sure if I push with a couple I might be able to get them cheaper.
For those who are interested here is some of the info.
First I paid NZ$1600 to have the back made and fitted. I have a narrow track so what the diference is in the diff iner I dont know. This will not be a huge problem he recons a verrrrrrrry detaild schematic and a couple of photos of the diff opend and closed spoke about this today. He will try and give us a schematic of the diff with numberd points and a detaild description if the info he needs.
The unit is air Locked so you will need an air pump wich will not be in the price I get tomorrow as it is available everywhere they are heavy and will just add to the shipping cost. ( my way of trying to save money for you guys) Also air lines and a small cylinder and switches will not be included.
Pls all of you who will have a bit of cash spare and want a locker PM me asap. Kind request not to say yea and when it comes to payday back out as he will onley do it if you pay upfront.
Before I went and destroyd my much loved gearbox The dif worked a charm the bog seems to feel a lot less snoty and the uphill became a litle hump in the way to freedom. I'm not the worlds best 4X4er and have a lot to learn about tricks to get out of ruts mud sand and those damd trenches dug by the toy's as they get stuck just as they exit the steep climb. Yes I have a lot to learn and at the moment everyone calls me slogo as I check every litle rut before I stick my nose in it and stay away from deep loose sand. I only use Hirange if its flat and it looks like 2wd will do the trick rest of the time 3de LR gets me where I want to be well most of the time. Sand is my enemy as I seem to have a neck for geting stuck real bad.
Mabe one of you can start a tips and tricks area.

yoda u do well for english being ur second language.... most peeps here in america have english as their first language an they cant spell/write/talk worth crap.... as for info on the diff.. that would be VERY handy.... i wouldnt be able to cough up any money at the moment.. but i would be able to in a few months or so hopefully... would he be able to resume poduction when needed?

Before I did the axle swap I researched the Toyota 7.5 inch third member. The ring gear is almost (within a few .001") the same size as the Feroza ring gear. I was going to get a 7.5 inch Toyota third member and pull one of mine to compare. I have a carrier sitting here from the Detroit TruTrack install but it is an 8" so that won't do you guys any good. I think that the spline count on the axles is different but maybe the spider gears could be swapped. It might be worth looking at though. perhaps rather than building a locker/ carrier maybe the Toyota/Feroza third members could be mated...just a thought.

I never got around to buying a Toyota 7.5" third member and I had seen them at the salvage yard for about $50.00. The 7.5" differential is used in the front of IFS trucks ('86 and later). It is also used as the rear differential on some 2WD trucks. Toyota 7.5's have 27 spline axles just like the Daihatsu rear. The Daihatsu front is 25 spline. That's why I was thinking that maybe the spider gears would swap in the front...or weld it. I gave away my old axles, brakes, hubs and diffs or I would take one of those apart and do some measuring along with the Toyota. If the ring gears are that close then maybe they would bolt up. If they would bolt up then you could use an ARB, TruTrack, EZ Locker and others plus 5.71 gears so that you can run 33" tyres. The locker would only fit in the rear unless you could find one with 25 splines for the front. It was just an idea and may be crazy. Toyota axles and drive shafts are extreemly similar looking to the Daihatsu ones. My Daihatsu driveshaft flanges bolted right up to my Toyota third member flanges. Since you have a spare US Rocky you might want to pick up a Toy 7.5 and do some measuring...you maybe be the hero of the Feroza/ US Rocky world.

hmm kent very interesting there... how about i tear what i got on my spare an give u the measurements? would that be of any help to u? an from what i've found on the net... as it turns out, toyota is really the parent company of daihatsu, it seems to me like daihatsu took alot of the toyota's existing engine/driveline setups... an slightly modified.. if at all... the setups an put em on the rozas. take a look at the late 80's model 4runner... i've found that the body lift kit for the 4runner not only fits the roza (due to someone else's info), but it also fits TOO good.. an all of the parts are the same... it really amuses me. now i'm not THAT mecanically inclined.. so i dont think i could really measure everything unless i know what to measure for. maybe u an i can have a little private convo about this an put our heads together an see if we can figure somethin out. lemmie know what u think.
