Getting specific to Nissan
I have a GQ with a 2.5" suspension lift, no mud flaps and bushranger Flexi Flares and am due for some new shoes on the patrol. Looks like I am going to get the MTZs over Goodrich MTRs.
On another note, I am looking at either a 285/75/16 or a 305/70/16. Are there any benefits/burdens I should consider with running a 305 rather than a 285 other than the extra hole it burns in your pocket with the 305s?

Going to be using 16 x 8" black sunnies. I am currently running 15s but have decided to go to a 16 inch rim for the better load rating in a 33" diameter as opposed to a 15" rim with the same diameter.j-top paj wrote:its just extra width, what rims are you using?
Decided on the MTZs as I have heard good things about them and a bloke I know just ran a set from Melbourne to the Kimberley and return (12,000 kms in six weeks) over gibber plains and a lot of dirt road driving towing a T-Van with out any issues running bitumen pressures. I have seen the tyres and there isn't a scratch on them.
I am sold on the rubber, so the only thing I have to decide is whether or not to get the 285 or 305 and whether or not I put the white writing on the inside or outside of the rim!

thats up to you dude, but when they asked me that at the shop the last time i went i just laughed at them.
id got with the smaller rim size as to lessen the chance of popping a bead but also remember that if u do run the 305s that you will more than likely need the 8" rims for the tyres recomendations.

I would suggest there would be less wander with the thinner tyre. No expert though.

I run MTZs on both my patrols 315/75/16s and by far the best and quietest mud tyre ive driven the street .on my coil cab i only use them for road and sand as i have claws for play.i have 20000km on them including a 6500km trip accross the outback and simpson crossing only had 1 flat (screw though tyre) and are only 1/4 worn
