Changing GU Disc Brake Pads

Post by Swerve »

Hey All,

Had the GU serviced today 90k and needs new brake pads.

Nissan quoted like $230 front and $170 rear, I just remember around $400 fitted for the pads.

I said bugger off and purchased the pads from Brabond for $200. In the past when fitting pads I always seem to bugger up the pushing back of pistons. Once on a S1 RX7 I bashed it with a hammer only to find teh slot was there to twist it back in .

My question is what is the process in pushing the piston in for the front & rear of the GU.

Thanks

Steve

use a g clamp but make sure you crack the bleeder on the caliper so the fluid doesn't go back up and out the master cylinder.

Obviously be aware that a bit of fluid will come out the bleeder when you clamp the piston down.

 dude, $200 for pads?
it should be less than $100 for all four if you want decent pads, and even cheaper if you just want standard pads.

next time u need pads fitted u can give me the $200 and il do it for you :D

OK, here are the figures

I purchased

Front TRW/Lucas front pads (GDB3361) at $132.
Rear AXXISS Semi Metallic (DB1148 AXXIS SM) at $66

Repco have

Front Bendix 4WD at $93
Rear Bendix STD at $81

So if I got Bendix 4WD allround from Repco looking at $174 PLUS SAY $12. I also think ( :?: ) that the Lucas is a better front pad so what's a extra $18.

I think (as I did) everyone thought you were talking front pads only for $200.

I had my local brake specialist do front and rear with so called off road pads and the cost was $400 which included flushing the system. The rotors however were in good nick. 4.2td Gu.
