Buying Used GU Ute

Post by Clint »

I am looking at buying a GU Ute coil cab in the near future and was wondering if there are any particular things i should be looking out for.
Are there any problems that are common for this vehicle?

I am gunna check out a 2005 4.2 coily on saturday, has 80,000k's on it.
Looks like a fairly stock rig in the pic just a bullbar and some AT's on it.

Cheers for you input in advance fella's.

Check out the rear coil towers. They have a tendency to push up with weight and speed giving shock to the suspension. They may need reinforcement, or if you do the same, they will. I know of some that have torn the towers out of the chassis. Plated over the top is the best fix, side to side.

Look for the thickness of the coil wire too, what are they rated at and the like?

What is the tray of? The GVM isn't great if you have a heavy tray, cos you would be close to it.

Great with a 3" exhaust as long as it has the 3" dump pipe
Never enough of the right sort of tripping
