Pic Request - 2F or 3F P/Steer Pump Setup

Post by TWISTY »

I'm almost finished my 75/80 series p/steer conversion on my FJ40. I thought I had all the parts to mount the pump on my 3F, but I cant seem to work out how it all goes.

Could someone please post some pics of how the p/steer pump is mounted on a 3F or 2F, and also how the belt is tensioned.

Thanks ;)

can't find a pic at the moment.

firstly what did you get the pump off

secondly. the bracket should have 3 bolt holes. these go in the drivers side of the head.

the pump should swivel on a bolt running front to back on the bracket, with another that you tension down when you've adjusted the belt to the appropriate tension, same as the alternator.

Pump and brackets came off a 2F (I have a 3F in the 40). I have the bracket with the 3 holes bolted to the head, and the pump swinging off the two bolts at the top (one in from the front, and one in from the back). Then it looks as though one long bolt tensions it off a bracket I thought I was missing at the bottom.

From what you've described, my pump sounds as if its upside down......but jeez....I dont think I'm that stupid  Resivour is the right way up, and the pulley is to the front of the truck.....I'll get some pics when I get home from work of what I've got bolted up now, and see what you think.

This is all I could find... the pump swivels on its bracket, and tensions the belt...

Dave, looks like the right pump and you have it and the bracket mounted correctly from what I can see. You are however missing the tensioner bracket. Basically a curved bracket that bolts to the pump bracket and pics up a 3rd mounting point on the pump for adjustment. I'll see if I can get some pics shortly.

Edit: Here's the pics to explain, sorry for the quality but I think you should be able to see what I'm getting at.

Oh yeah, mine is a 2F, not a 3F but should mount the same.

I'm guessing your aircon pump fitted no dramas with the 60 series p/steer box you fitted Ray?

Might source the aircon bracket and a pump while I'm at it to do an endless air setup. :D

Yeah but compressor only just clears the steering column intermediate shaft. :D

That bracket in the pic is just the adjusting bracket. The mounting for the compressor is actually the d/side engine mount. I swapped my 40 2F engine mount for a 60 (with a/c) and its a straight swap. I hard mounted the adjusting mount on the compressor so it is fixed and I run the p/s and a/c on the same belt, tensioning via the p/s pump.

If you want more pics let me know otherwise I can show you on the weekend.

On the 2F the P/S pump is the tensioner. It slides up and down on the bolt and the brackets.

On the 3F is has a tensioner
