What springs are you guys using???
Just wondering what leaf springs you guys are running on your spooks? I have always had kings, and never had dramas but curious to see what everyone else has/uses...

I'm using Old Man Emu rear springs all round.
All have had their clips removed for more flex, and the front springs have had their "load bearing springs" removed aswell.
I'm still Spring Under too - i think that is worth mentioning when talking about spring setups.

I'm running Old Man Emu 2.5" rear springs all round. Love them haven't had any dramas with them. I bought a 2nd hand set about 7 years ago and only replaced them about 6 months ago. they had a pretty hard life 4wheeling plus a trip to Innamincka carrying enough that the zuk was almost resting on the bumpstops plus numerous other long trips and weekend fun.
They give a really nice ride in the zuk.

well if spring under is your cup o' tea, and you aren't hunting a heap of lift (they are not as heavily lifted as other aftermarket springs), then Old Man Emu's are great... they flex a treat and ride nicely too

all spua. again in qld, the spoa thing is more noticeable and cops love to ring your nuts up here.

OME 2" springs and shocks, spua. top of front shock mounted lower to allow full droop. 2" longer shackles in rear, same reason + leveling. spring clips all loosened, but still in situ. been on for 7 hard yrs, still happy. christover LWB Ute 83 model, with 1.3 conversion

My sierra has standard rears all round with koni shocks for years. We used to use kings but found they didn't last. We had a seven leaf off-road race pack in the front at one stage & they got completely mashed after a few races & night runs. The standards seem to last much better. We were going to try OME but the shape of the spring isn't conducive to what Chad does to the pack. Plus SPUA for handling.

So why do u guys use the rear springs on the front? do you get second hand ones or new ones? and do u remove the load bearing leaf?
my suzuki's fronts have sagged, but the load bearing springs on the rear are kinda odd..
my ride is really rough.. lookin for cheap ways to make it better..

We started using rear springs because we were (& still are) running on a shoestring budget for racing & the same spring on every corner meant that we only needed one set of springs in the spares. Nobody wanted old standard rear springs so you could offer the shops a carton & they'd be happy for you to take away as many as you wanted. We use old ones because they've basically sagged as far as they can go, then you just play around till you find the pack that suits what you want from the car.

I'm also on a shoe-string budget but I'm not sure what is involved mounting the rear springs up-front.. do u need to buy bigger brackets or move the axle forwards and get a steering extender or anything? and do you take out the load-bearing springs? ive heard other people saying they add some of the front springs to the pack..
Also.. I'd love to be able to 'race' the sierra like you say you do.. are you from usa or australia.. ? any tips on how to set up a sierra for race.. i presume you use it in dirt rally-ing? I have heaps of fun when driving fast down dirt tracks (and my passengers also think its a great hehe)

for the fiting of the rear springs on mine and Gregs we had to extend the front chassis and weld on a new set of brackets for the shackles to hang from. Also need new front brake lines. Using the rears up front moves the axle forward about 1.5" so depending on your setup you may now get fouling behind the headlights and you might also have to trim your guards.

We live in Brisbane's inner west suburbs. What we call race these days is usually club gymkhanas, the faster events at Landcruiser park like the rally-cross, hill climbs etc. We used to do class 8 off-road racing with SEQORRA & rallying with the Brisbane Sporting Car Club back in the early '90s. Sometimes go on Night Navs with the Suzi or Lagan clubs, Use them as a bit of rally paractice.

Well i'll chip in here, OME rear all round like some others here.
Used the RRO kit but now I have it and see how simple it is I wasted my dosh. No overloads and an extra leaf on each pack. Rides nice, flexes nice,
Std bump stops so it articulates nice (31s in case anyone was gonna ask)
But have been looking at some tube front clips and wondering........
