Tigerz11 2013 Cliffhanger

Post by NavRun »

In response to popular demand on the back of a sensational '07 Cliffhanger we are getting set for '08 already.

The date is July 7th to 11th, school holidays in almost every state as this really is a family friendly event.

In '08 we have cash prizes. We are on track to offer $5000 to first place, $3000 to second and $2000 to third place. But wait there's also $250 to stage wins, $150 to stage seconds and $100 to stage thirds.

All up that's $20,000 in prize money plus a number of great prizes to boot, totallying up and over $30,000, making Cliffhanger Australia's richest 4WD event.

We are going to set a limit of 30 rigs so get in early as we are sure it will fill quickly.

The entry price will stay at $1500. Pay $250 on registration then pay off the balance before May 31st, 2008.

Dont forget about the fabulous meals, bar, showers and toilets, for all, including spectators.

Cliffhanger 08 will be a CCDA Sanctioned event as well.

Geez that's real nice!

On a happier note. That's good news guys, the best event in the country has just gotten better. We'll be there again, cash or no cash!

Mate are you serious? These guys are having a go and have a track record of running a multitude of awesome events and all you can come up with is implying that they're being misleading or deceptive???? WTF? They don't need to offer the prize money to get people there mate the event has been going for a number of years amongst their other events.

So which one of their events did you last compete in that qualifies you to judge wether they're capable of delivering on their claim of prizemoney for next year?

Rudi, please ignore this key board jockey, the people who actually know what you do really appreciate it and think you run awesome events.

I to believe Rudi runs a top event and think the knockers who sit on the side lines should keep thier comments to them selfs. Unless you know something we don't, which would be highly unlikely as you seem like a brain dead know nothing.
As Rudi said Cliffhanger just got a whole lot better, can't wait to get back out there. C'mon 2009.

Prize Money

Post by Hobzee »

Thanks Berrets and Ruffy, can't wait to see you 2 there next year too... Thanks for the back up..

We got a PM threatening us with legal action as apparently Tuff Truck claim to be the richest at 25K -

Hmm ok we will see Tuff Truck's 25K by raising our bid by adding 10K in prizes to the 20K = 30K ...

As for legal action ... are you serious???? You will embarrass a lot of close allies here including your number 1 mag sponsor who has backed us for the last 3 years.

Anyway on with the real stuff of getting it together. Rudes reports 3 teams have paid deposits already and another 2 sponsors today.

Thanks for the expert comments. I guess there coming my way.

I would strongly suggest that you should read comments properly. I do know Rudi and he is a good event organiser and a good bloke to boot. So please advise me where I have mocked Cliffhanger. I've never attended the event and won't pass comment on that aspect but for an event to be advertised "All up that's $20,000 in prize money making Cliffhanger Australia's richest 4WD event", this is false advertising whether you care to leave off on status of expert or not.

Hobzee, don't tell lies it does catch up with you. I'd suggest that you actually expose the actual e-mail on this forum and let people judge for themselves as to what the actual truth is as opposed to what you're trying to tell people.

However, if you up the prize money for Cliffhanger, yeh the event would more than likely be the richest 4WD event in Australia. Tuff Truck isn't looking to compete with any event in the respect that you mention, just to let everybody know the real story.

Rudes - suggestion - can you please edit the title to $30K and then if Mr Podge can counter claim that then we may settle for second highest - give a dam .. lets get on with it ...

Mate as i've said before the dates are to close to the OBC for me as i'm self employed and can't have to much time off in the middle of the year. I'm already committed to OBC 08 as i have unfinished buisness after this year, but will give the OBC a miss for Cliffhanger after that for sure.

Not going to get into an argument here podge, but seriously dude, you're embarresing yourself here.
These guys are turning on a fantastic event, ok so maybe it's not the most amount of prize money ever to be offered but it's kind of irrellevent for the purpose of this exercise. Keep your beaurocratic politics behind the scenes and stop trying to maher an awsome event with threats of legal action and shame. Lets keep it about the comp. If TT don't care about the prize money then why do you..
By the way.. I think you'll find that your legal action will get squashed when Navrun defence stands and delivers that the title was refering to the "the richest 4wd event" in comraderie, Not the richest 4wd event in wankers.
If you know Rudes and Hobzee then you'll know what it's about. Chill dude and support those bringing us what we love.
Cheers Dan

Your post said....

Nothing about TTC being $25k. I interpreted you as questioning their ability to run the event and deliver the money. In this sport as you would well know if you don't deliver on your claims people have long memories.

These two events are completely different, both fantastic events, pitty we can't all just get along and support each others events. Sad for the sport really.

So Podge what is your real name?

Podge has an invested interest in Tuff Truck and I suppose it's a normal reaction by jumping to it's defence like that. But the new kid in town is not new any more and he ain't a kid. Rudes and I have some 50+ events under our belt .. rivalled maybe by MMM in Qld maybe or the various Cams and rally dudes ... but as one of the most experienced organisers in the country running one of the richest 4WD events in the country it sure is good to get the gloves off and the only way to knock the knockers is to put on another ripper like 07.

There's no embarrasment from my side of things, I just call it as I see and know it. However, twisting the story from the basic point to suit ones self can be seen through. Hobzee, you're a master at this so if you really want to pit your five minutes of involvement in 4WDing against the "new kid" (I'll let you think that anyway), hey gloves are off.

As already mentioned the events don't compete and from a Tuff Truck perspective we're not looking to compete, these are two contrasting events. In fact we want Rudy's events to happen as it gives TEP more DVD titles to add to our range.

So if you guys can take the goggles off and understand what my angle is then we'll leave it at that and we'll all move on from here to what we all do best, either compete in or organise competition events.

Podge or Pagie

For the record it is myself Rudi Paoletti (Rudes, Doodle Boy, Rudster, the Dark One, one who lives in caves, etc) and Steve (Hobzee) Hobbs as the event organisers.

Thanks all for your support, numbers are already totalling for 2008, looking good!!!!!!!!!!!!

As one of the major sponsors of Cliffhanger for the last 2 years, we are happy to take a backstep for Cliffhanger 08. Not because we are reducing our sponsorchip but because as a small business we can't compete with what the big businesses are willing to throw at the event for next year and beyond. We will be one of the stage sponsors or a day sponsor as we can only commit to $3000- in cash & prizes for 08. I know we are not the only buisness who as committed to this level of sponsorship and above, and Rudi & Hobzee have the ball well & truely in hand to achieve what they are claiming. Hopefully for future years and different events we will be able to contribute more as the business grows, as it is a great sport all round.

Great to see you on board for another year Steve. Just promise me you wont be organising any more of those pootown, Kokoda trail bamboo squashing, rogaining in a straightr line around corners and down creek beds looking for postage stamps on the back of trees at head height 10 feet above the ground with cars coming towards you sort of stages. ;)

Why do you hate to say it Dave????????????? You should be happy to say it!

Although i have no idea why you had to come out with such a statement. This is not a competition about who has a better event or has the most prize money or has been going the longest.
Dave i've never been to one of your events, I have been to the OBC, Cliff hangers, Navruns, Pajero challenges, Atecos, Engel series, Piranha pursuits and nav nites and in my opinion the cliff hanger has the best special stages, the best format, the best and most organised marshalling and is catered with fantastic food. If you had 50 km long sandy creek bed runs and 100 klm navigation stages along with winch and speed stages we might travel to QLD. But you don't.
Let's try hard to keep this about the Cliff hanger. Not who's event is better, richer, older or bigger.
Cheers Dan

We have some very jealous people out there my friend.

Its been a hard long road for me and Hobzee, and we do expect to be put down by these type of people. We still have a long way to go, but by god we will succeed.

Its almost becoming like the "tall poppy syndrome".

Come on all lets make this event big, and stick it up them. Get your entries in one and all, competitors and spectators.

What service stations are available close to this area?
I.E. Shell, Mobil, BP, Caltex?

Just trying to work out if I can exercise my Custom Fleet card!

There is a shell and BP in Wilcania, About 100km from camp. These are only of use before the event. There is fuel Available at the competition. You order it in 200l drums.
You want get time during the comp to go to a servo.

Thanks Davidh,

Ruffy is right. We are also selling fuel at camp in 150L lots this year as well.

Purchasing fuel at base camp is not only convenient but saves you the trip there as well. Price is also cheaper or the same, not dearer.

You can also pay using your credit card if that helps on site.

David stop makeing relevent posts. Bring back the pissing contest.
Oh and MMM post had enough smileys to show that he found it amusing.

Might have to come as a spectator marshall next year. Done Ateco and OBC. Would be good to find how another event is ran.
