boosting a 1hd-t... it wont go
ok i fitted a 3" zorst and a boost controller to the new 80 sahara the other day but no matter what i turn the boost controller to it will not go over 11psi on the guage... also it does not feel any different (either from std or upping it from the boost controller)
i have sussed out the wastegate and it is working, the boost controller also works.. i thought the guage could be stuffed but its not, is there some sort of limiter or cut out... these things from memory run around 11 std dont they?
my last one had the wastegate arm adjustable and it would kick ass over this one but it was boosted by the last owner so i didnt have much to do with it..
cheers mark

Most denso pumps have a overboost fuel cut built into the boost compensater. This reduces fuel when more boost is added. Best to get to someone who knows about this to help you.

hmmmm i am only trying to boost it up slightly, my last one used to run 14 and i was very happy with it. that is all im trying to get from this, surely that is not to the point of overboosting? but even if it is why wont it go over 11 psi?
ill have another look today, im cabable of working it out but just thought there might be someone who can save me the time on here.
cheers bud

Just take the wastegate hose of the actuator and see what happens. It should just keep rising as the revs go up when driving under load.

well i dropped the wastegate hose and woot woot...
the spitfire guage hit 11psi then done nothing then shot around to 22 psi and back to 0psi....
so i checked the line from the manifold to the guage for kinks and nothing..
id say the boost pressure guage is stuffed as i could even feel the extra boost this time, its just weird i could not before...but as some would figuure that has nothing to do with the guage, so ill get another one then chuck the boost controller back on and also check its not stuffed too..

Tapage wrote:But I thought when you remove the wastegate hose and get the 22 PSI you feel more power not .. ?
Actually in my 80 if I remove the hose only get 20 PSI but I seen some 1HD-T broken engines with 15 and 16 PSI ..
i did feel the extra power as stated bud...
i guess all motors are slightly different as in wear and tear so that could be why you got 20 psi and i got 22 psi, but then again like i said i think my gauge is stuffed so it was prolly reading wrong..
