hey i got a gq with 3" lift with wombat offroad hydrulic oil shocks .
im looking at going with a 5' lift just wondering which shocks i should buy
as a medium price range but still good quality shocks .
i have a set of fox shox that i brought but i had to sell them to fund my
new set of tyres .
any ideas would be grate

Not sure they make them for lifted vehicles, but my Bilsteins absolutely transformed my vehicle. Went from plain dangerous, to a fantastic vehicle to drive. They aren't the dearest, but they're not cheap either.

Hi acebryanMy mates and I use to swear by pro comp 9000 for comps and play. Untill we got our hands on the new efs extremes there about $220 to $250 a corner depending on were you go but they offer a 3 year unconditional (spelling) warrenty and are worth it. We have never looked back.
I would like to hear more about this. Would you say they were a softer ride than the Procomps, any more info would be helpfull for all.
The EFS extremes have a 45mm bore and 20mm chrome poston rod and filled with oil. I could sell them to you for $230 a corner including freight.
They have an extended length of 750mm on the rear which might be too long for some 5" lifts.

Hello shane they are an excellant smooth ride shock over fast and slow stuff. They don't get as hot as pro comps after big poundings and they cool down quicker than them also. Which should in theory make them last longer as the oil will be cold sooner.
There warrenty holds up also we had two of them have oil seal issues right out of the box they replaced them straight away. My mates and I have 3 winch trucks that run them plus alot of the other big name guys also use and swear by them on the comp scene.
I also have two other mates with GQ wagons that they have set up for touring both with 5 inch dobinson coils and efs extreme shocks and they feel like they are a new truck to drive they handle on road and off and have not found anything that feels like them hope this helps.

750mm shocks is perfect for a true 5 inch lift of you wish for your coils to remain captive.
efs extreems seem good but for that sorta money you can buy some good adjustable shocks.
that said every efs shock ive seen has handeled well and copped alot of abuse

SO why did the Fox Shoxs die? yeah we thought the same. One over flexed some how and ripped the strut clean out the end of the bore. (at pace), The other did it's seal and they wouldn't warrenty it. They are alot more than a efs aswell, but at the end of the day it comes back to what works for one prob won't work for another. In this case my mates and I have done a fair bit of trial and era and that is the answer we came up with for us in our trucks anyway.
Sounds like there might be a need to fit limiting straps. To prevent droop. Wrong shock for the job. Normally in general use. Using the shock to limit down travel seems fine. Hello acebryan, I love your input however I am a bit concerned about the oil leak straight out of the box, have you heard of anybody else having this problem?
Also, it would be good to see if anybody has had any failures with them in the comp scene. Have you heard of any?

Gday shane, no it only happened the once and nothing since. There are alot of big name guys in the winch challenges up here in Queensland that have them.
The 4 or 5 I know love them and have not had any trouble with them that i have scene or heard off. But there warrenty is the best bit because it's 3 years or 100 000 kms which ever comes first.
And it doesn't matter if your racing or not they still warrenty them. if you look on any comp truck running EFS stickers you can beat your bottom dollar it will have EFS Extremes on it.
