using lpg on boost insted of aneroid

Post by rockcrawler31 »

I saw a TJM 79 series last week that had a lpg kit on the hd-fte. He said that it only injected gas when it was on boost and as an added bonus said it ran cooler.

Now that lpg for diesels have been around for a while, can anyone tell me of their experiences running lpg injection on diesels. Does it run cooler?

I have a 1HZ and was considering running a turbo, and instead of having the fuel pump modded with an aneroid i could turn up the fuel mildly and use LPG on boost to make up the difference in added fuel. how do you reckon this would work. Any ideas whether this would help towards the 1HZ's turbo achilles heel of killing heads with high EGT's. I'd still be running an intercooler and keeping it to about 1bar.

thanks for that.

wonder what sort of fitting costs you would be up for. 2850 for a full kit minus the 2000 gov rebate, so thats 850 plus fitting.

There are a few places in Brissy that supply and install these kits. I have the details at work from when I looked into it 12 months back. I will post them up this afternoon.

You wouldn't buy a full kit from that bloke on ebay as the cylinder would cost a fortune to ship to QLD. I sent him a msg asking for his Brisbane fitters details will let you know if he comes good.

i was hoping one of the pros would reply, however ........

afaik what your thinking of wouldn't really work to well. the lpg helps the deisel burn, poor in the LPG to much and motor blows up. for a full power setup you really need the bulk of the fuel to still be deisel ie you still need the aneriod. a lot of the basic systems just poor the lpg in according to airflow, there is no metering according to throttle position, ie can't vary motor speed via the lpg.

but if your turboing an atmo motor and are useing light boost and light amount of extra fuel, then you can get away without an aneriod and the lpg would act as extra fuel.

exactly right
aneroid is the way to go expesive to fit but worthwhile
