For about $14oo US (probably 3500 here) it looks like a good setup. You'd have to play with the front due to LHD. Maybe just the rear at $8oo US

Looks impressive by the time you get it here you can nearly times theyank price by 3.

You would get better results from doing a conversion rather than playing with a coily sorry. :D

I would love a coil conversion setup, I am sick of axle wrap etc .. I dont care what anyone says you still get it SPOA or SPUA its a leaf spring .. designed to deform ..
What sorta money would we be looking at for a kit?? any chance of it being around $2000 to $2500 :?: :?: if so it would be very very tempting (I guess thats a pipe dream as it would have lots of man hours invloved in its design and production). The reason I ask is that at that sort of $$ it would still compare favourbly to a leaf setup by the time you sort it for decent travel and handling. (I am not including shocks in that price BTWas everyone says that <bilstein, rancho, koni. OME etc> is the best) just control arms, coils and mounts, brackets etc ..

And I guess what sort of chance of getting the kit (once installed) engineer approved ?? For the states that allow that kinda thing of course .. :D

If all goes well it will become a kit we will manufacture and sell.
Price wise I don't know but I will try and keep the price down.My aim is to try and make it for around $2-2500 mark.But until we make the first one I won't know.

If you can get it done for that sorta money even if it does not include shocks (as I said eariler) I think I would be very keen ..

I have looked at coils pretty extensively and as a one of thing and having to farm out alot of production as I have very limited facilities it's simply prohibitive for me to do (as you know it will never work perfectly first time out either)
So bring it on .. lets some some slinky suspended Zuks out and about :D

Sam, what about using alternate axles with your kit, ie yota axles, will that be possible?

How much lift/what tyre size, are you aiming for with your kit?

I guess so but the kit will be made for Zook running gear and we can modifie the arms to suit other diffs.
We sat the springs under it tonight and it lifted it about 6 inches. We have roughly worked it out and you should be able to run 31-32's with no body lift.
We made good progress tonight the lower arm mounts and the a frame mount are done so by the end of the week it should be sitting on the coils by itself.

Well, I just got home from Sams as I had to walk the 20 odd kms as the trains weren't running. I like the way it's going.

Think of it this way. Standard Sierra + (roughly, hopefully) $3000 coil kit + low transfer + welded rear diff + tyres and you'll go 90% of the places a full on buggy would go......

I'll let Sam answer any questions but I think this is gonna be AWESOME

i agree there.

you'll get rid of all the approach and departure issues too. so you won't have to run as big tyres for clearance. the links should also slide well. a slightly extended wheel base will help offroad and onroad. knowing sam's abilities, it'll have fantastic flex. disconnectable swaybars would be a good thing to include.

now i have to weigh up how seriously i want to take my car because this mod - despite how great it is - will cost more than the original cost of purchase of my car.
