What of what .. ?
with intercooler you can go over 16 PSI .. and if you wanna make a test engine up more .. but just to keep a balance between reliability, long lasting and power I will never go over 16 PSI ..

before you even bother touching the boost, look at the exhaust, go for a straight through, mandrel bent, 2.5 - 3" pipe, the turbo takes out most of the noise.
once you have a pyro, then you can fiddle with the boost - aim for 600C max post turbo at 14psi, that is about the limit of the stock turbo. with intercooler and aftermarket turbo, I would have no hesitation in hitting a healthy 12H-T with 18 - 20psi boost.

I've got a 3 inch mandrel comming, but my issue is whether or not the stock turbo can handle that much boost..?

Re: boost
The stock CT26 can handle up to 20 PSI .. and if you read info in the we you found that best improveement it's a well sized intercooler ..Cruza62 wrote:I've got a 3 inch mandrel comming, but my issue is whether or not the stock turbo can handle that much boost..?

Re: boost
don't exceed 15psi on the stock turbo, the CT26 will be way overspeed at 20 and well out of its efficient range, it will be pumping a lot of heat for very little increase in performance.Tapage wrote: The stock CT26 can handle up to 20 PSI ..

Complete agree ..dumbdunce wrote:don't exceed 15psi on the stock turbo, the CT26 will be way overspeed at 20 and well out of its efficient range, it will be pumping a lot of heat for very little increase in performance.Tapage wrote: The stock CT26 can handle up to 20 PSI ..
it can make 20 PSI out of efficience range .. sure, that't the reazon that I said, you get better performance from proper fitted sized intercooler ( or water cooller ) than other turbo or more boost on the same unit ..
The CT26 have a map close to this ..

lamentably we have no exactly information from Toyota about CT26 specs .. and sure the light in the dash come on up to 15 PSI to indicate " overspin ? "
Much people mix boost with air flow .. the most important issue are not boost .. it's air flow vs eficience ..
