Coilover ?

Post by grimbo »

I am starting to think about some changes to the Zuk (only if I can sell my Coupe V8 Val anyone?) anyway back to the topic.

I'm thinking coilovers front and rear or maybe just front and 1/4 rear so I can lengthen the wheel base. So where and how much for coilovers and does anyone know of the coilover sleeves that will fit a Rancho like Steve Azzopardi has on his coily Sierra. What's the best setup for the Zuk front 3, 4, 5 link etc. I have been wanting widetrack but if i go coilover in the front would I just be better off getting the front diff from a Jimny or coil Sierra?

the sleeved ranchos are not much chop as the body of the shock is not meant to support the weight of the vehicle

i thikn dobbin engineering does this style though (plus it may be okay on a super light zook)

trailcraft may come with some information in the next couple of days on there thread on the buggy!

My new coilovers are the best I have seen, 18" of travel and more HD than anything I have ever seen. They have been hand made, including mand made shocks. Better yet they are made in Victoria. :D

Grimbo,

I have had Glen Dobbin modify some Ranchos for me, and have fitted them to the rear of my zook.

They are awsome. The difference in the adjustment on the shock is HUGE. if they are on the hard setting, body roll is almost a non event. But if they are on soft, the rear end works really well.

They cost me about $850. to buy, get modified, and get springs made.

The only problem that concerns me is the spring rubbing on the shock body. I bought some clear acrylic tube but it has cracked already.

See pic.

:o forklift flex!!

i have heard the issues about the rubbing through the shock body

also the shock in some of the designs does not have to support the weight of the vehicle (depending)

nice rig godzuki :P i was talking to you that night out at ormeau (im the guy who blew two tyres within 1 metre, and was trying to drive out on the alloy mags)  you had a awesome run!

The forklift pic was taken a year ago. Pitty the zook doesn't look that straight and shiny any more. Comps are a bitch!!!!

BJ,

When it rains it pours - that must have been an $$$$ night.

Your rig looks a bit different to that night run @ ormeau.

I will tag along next time you boys go out playing.
