how the hell do you put it all back together with a new shifter bush. I cant seem to put enough pressure down and turn the locking cap at the same time. Any hints on an easy way to do this? thanx.

I did this a week ago, and ended up being able to hold it down and turn it with my fingers while lying on the ground underneath the cab, but then again, i have long skinny fingers.
I thought i was pretty stuffed, too, and had forced the new bush in there, not knowing what it all looked like, and convinced with the amount of movement and noise i had in the shifter that the original one must have disintegrated long ago. There was so much sand and crap in there that i didn't realise i was trying to put the bush in on top of an intact one that someone else had put in there not long before i bought it.
Cleaning all the crap out just made the transfer lever looser, and now it rattles and chatters more than ever before.

Re: t/case shift bush replacement
This is in your 1l case yea?? Mine still had a weird plastic spacer under the bush wen i replaced and it wouldnt make the new bush go all the way home. Check it without the spring and gearlever and see iff there is enough clearence for the locking cap.built4thrashing wrote:how the hell do you put it all back together with a new shifter bush.
