I'm in the process of building an exteral roll cage for my patrol with 1020 mild steel 45mm x 2.5mm thick. It has a very high carbon content and needs to be bent with a J-Bender.
We have tried bending it by filling it with Sydney dried sand and belting wood in either end and using a normal pipe bender but it either kinks or splits before we get it to bend.
I've been told by Performance Metals that the only way I can bend this metal is with a J-Bender or something similar but cant remember the name of the other one they said.
So i'm wondering who in Newcastle has a J Bender or something simlar who does bends for the general public in Newcastle?
