Yeah the jeep doors sound cool, luv Cheezy's set, but a gq bonnet that i can cut bloody great cooling vents in sounds better. How much $$$?

You can fit fawkin heaps in the originals. Just need to taper the bottom edge back.
Glass bonnet? cause you can lift the whole thing off by yourself and get it out of the way to work on everything. :D

hay .............. all

well more q,s ,,,,,,,kool

well the reason for a glass bonnet is that it take a bit of weight off the frount end for those that know how heavy these gq steel bonnet are and by the time you add dual battrys, winch, bar, lights and ariels and any thing else you can think of to the front of ur truck you have stacked on a lot of weight and any saving is an add vantage especially for those of us that race these are for sale now at $250.00 +bonnet pins [i am souceing these to get them cheaper ]curently making current orders then stock ,the other reason is that i would rather have a glass hood is that you can fully remove it to work on ur truck and the ,weight of corse and that you can cut big vents or scoops in to it easy if you need to

glass gards well thanks to CHEESY i have 2 brand new genuine nissan gards to mold the advantage is that for some of us mear motals that dont have the nessesery tool to cut and roll and finish the steel gards for bigger rubber you soon will be able to buy a glass gard in standard form as a replace ment or a modified cut gard that you can paint and bolt on in place of you original gard that will fitt the bigest of meats with out hitting the advantages of this is that they will be bolt on and easyer to repair if smashed glass tends to rip not dint and crease and it will also give instead of you sub sructure bending out of shapeand why cut up good steel gards when you can buy it all ready done thus also keeping you old gards if udecide to sell your truck as soon as i get the 1st lot of gards made i will post a price

ohhhhh and as of pics i shall get some as we go
i can get 1 of a bonnet and the start of 1 of the rock doors these doors will have an internal steel intrusion bar to [still designing that part ]

GQ FIBERGLASS

hay ryan

wellllllll at the momment i have a shit load of work on with just the gq stuff so it may be a while before i contemplate the mq stuff the other thing is that there is a huge market for the gq gear and i can recover the costs in making all the molds this is the big factor in making molds how many othere people do you know that would want them and do you have a set of perfect 1s to mold in the 1st place

GQ FIBERGLASS

they would be ok to mold but there is a risk that the paint on them could be damaged after molding so if you wanted to use them again the may need repainting

MQ/MK front axle is 100mm further foward than a GQ front axle.
Apart from that, they will fit.
Bonnet and doors will fit no worries.

If you use good mould release wax, and LOTS of it, you should have no problem...

But the problem is spreading it well, thin as its like hard wax... you get lumps in it the gelcote looks crappy...

Go with it luke....

GQ FIBERGLASS

Post by ALPINE-OFF-ROAD »

hay guys

how are you all ?

well i already know about ceara wax thats what i use now. and the other stuff you are thinking about is pva mold release i already use it !!! and there is other stuff yet again called freecoat but there is still a risk that that the paint depending on what it is is((((( may )))))))react. 2 pak generaly wont but the othe paints out there may and i have seen this happen it is rare but i still warn people just in case it called ....covering your arse !.... you will also find that after you mold somthing that is clear coated the part will lose some of its gloss abit nothing that a good buff cant fix thank for you info but i do know !!!!!!

and booged you dont let the wax get hard you are surposed to wax smallish areas( as in what you can polish before it gos hard ) at a time and if it dose go hard you simply re apply and polish of ...and as far as lumpy gelcoat i hate to see your work lol lol ???????????????

not being a know it all but i do know how to glass

How much clearance would you need from a turbo to a fibreglass bonnet?

And what is the best arrangement and material to use for a heat shield and insulation?

FIBERGLASS GARDS

Post by ALPINE-OFF-ROAD »

hay fellas

well the gards(molds) are comming along nicely
i will try and get a few pics up this week of the molds
they will make great parts as they are straight as
the modified version has about 2inches removed from the front 1 and a bit from the top (the verticle edge basicaly) and tapers out to about 3 inches at the rear

it hasnt been made any wider tho

there is a insulation that can be use to reduce the radiated heat i will look into this and as far as distance you are talking about a std set up ?????
