High Mount up grades?, steel cable or plasma?

Post by patrol man »

I found this on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Patrol-GQ-Bar-Wa ... dZViewItem
It got me wondering if my 94 model high mount has a key type motor or a spline type, I am looking at the up grade motor, 4.6 or 6 horse, these are cheap from the states, but i wouldnt want to get the wrong one
What are your thoughts on the up grade?

What are your thoughts on replacment ropes?

It will be a spline type shaft, from what I can see, but it a little hard to tell. It looks like it will be a 2.5hp motor on it, but it could be a 4...

Motor upgrade depends on what you want to do with it, if you want to do comps then go for a 6hp for sure.

You can pick up wire rope pretty cheap these days, unless you have the $$ rope isn't really worth it, cable will do the job, but I will only use rope in comps.

Lastly, I am always looking for highmounts on ebay, I promise you won't get that highmount for $500, it will go a lot higher.

Cheers, Paul

If you upgrade to the 4.6 or 6 hp motor, you just have to make sure
that you have the splined drive pinion. If you don't, it's no biggie, they
are available as a spare part at around $30.

*unless someone else knows more........... :D
