Howdy all,

I have a problem with the brake lights in my GQ LWB Wagon.
They stay on all the time. The only way I can get them off is to pull the fuse.

I have replaced the switch on the brake pedal but didnt fix it.

I played with the trailer pug on the weekend and a few other thing and they started to work normally.

Today while I was at work we started it and checked the battery for drain and alternator out put and then the young bloke came in afterwards and told me they were on again. I had to pull the fuse so they didnt drain the battery.

Where should I start looking ? I know the basic's of 12 volt wiring but why would brake lights stay on ?

They would have to be getting power from somewhere but I have no Idea of where to start.

If everyone throws in there ideas Hopefully one of them might fix it.

Sorry for the long post but I need to fix this so I can go away on the weekend.

This is the one that skrews in and turns the stop lights on when the pedal comes away from it and the little black piece comes out ?

What i dont understand is that this bit is fine it returns home no worries and that should turn them off ?

I'm try again tommorrow, any other hints ?

If you fiddled with the trailer wiring and it came good. Pull it apart and then put the wires back on. Could be a short between the power wire and brake circuit.

Have you got an electric brake controller fitted for towing heavy vans/trailers with electric brakes? Tekonsha had some issues with their "Voyager" units turning on the brake lights by themselves at times.

It used to But i disconected all the wires, but that was after the problem started.

I will check it again.

So I washed it on the way home today got home turned the truck off put the fuse back in and the brake lights worked fine.

Started the truck to reverse it into the shed and the stayed on again.

Whats go me stuffed is it must be gaining power from some where. I just cant work out where.

If it had a bad earth would the lights come on ?

All fixed, It was a loose wire under the dash :roll:
