80 series lift height for differant tyre sizes
hey guys
just got myself a 1994 80 series cruiser and wondering what size lift am i going to have to do if any to fit 33's under it and what size lift to fit 35's under it???
any good recommendations on shocks(i was looking at rancho 9000x's) and springs(i was looking at king springs or tough dog springs) doing this will be taken on board too...

you can fit 33" tyres with no lift, but if you use it the tyres will hit the guard on uptravel. run a 2" lift and you will be fine.
as for 35" tyres you can run a minimum of 3" lift. i used to run 5" lift (3" spring and 2" body) to run 35" tyres and it made them look small, they never hit the guards or even came close.
as for the shocks, the rancho shocks have been used with sucess but a few will tell you they are not suited for a larger vehicle, i tend to agree as i have used these before, the tough dogs are awsome but did (not sure if the have rectifyed the problem) used to blow seals. rancho now have a shock the same as the tough dogs but i do not know how they go as yet.

I would like to know the same thing. Also does wheel width play a part in it as well. I ran 35's on the 80 on 15x10 wheels with a 4inch suspension lift only and hit on full travel on all 4 wheel arches. I then fitted a 2inch body lift as well and then no trouble. Just wondering with 37's on 15x10's if they will still hit on full travel with my current 6inch lift?

6" lift in 80 series are barely enought for 37" withoutlowered bump stops .. and more maybe you must need to add a CV in your front drive shaft and pretty fine adjust in your rear uper arms to avoid the vibration ..
Many on US has beedn done this setup with incredible results ..

was just on slee / ih8mud doing some research into it...
its actually so hard to understand as everything is everywhere and nothing is certain. they also use some weird terms as of lift, not 5 or 6" but they use the spring numbers then spacers...
i think ill stick with 35" and 5" lift...
as i just cant get a certain on 6" with 37" tyres... the guards would have to need tons of chopping (stuffs me how to on the front?) to clear the tyres with a xlink... i could limit the uptravel by lengthening the bumpstops but it sort of defeates the purpose..

ok so if i do a 3 inch lift i should be ok to fit 35" tyres under it without problems.... and im not dead set on any suspension atm hey its not like i have to have certain brands id rather have something ive never heard of that does the job right!!!

There are plenty diferents setups for may diferent aplications and taste of the rig owner ..
I have a buddy here with Irocks 39.5" in his 80 series .. some fenfer cuts and never lowered bump stop .. but he's not interested in flex or rub ..only mud wheeling ( and hard core ).
IMOP the 35" are the best option for 80 series ( fits perfect in the wheel weel ) looking good and fit fine ..

The issue with 35" and more if you are fulltime ( HF2AV t-case ) it's the front drive shaft .. and vibrations.
For J OME coils or 4" you need to buy adjustable panjards or relocate panhard brackets and more caster ( caster plates or drop brackets ) and so ..
But I love the 80 looks with 35"
