GU (ute) springs in GQ SWB?
GU (ute) springs in GQ SWB?
Just a quick question, my mate has a near new set of springs out of a GU ute and the springs in my swb maverick have sagged BAD, wondering if they are suitable for change over? The rear springs look to be very heavy duty?
Another mate said they should be right, might just give a "stiffer" ride.

They will fit, and your other mate is probalby right... they are designed for weight carrying, so in a shorty, would suckbabymav wrote:Just a quick question, my mate has a near new set of springs out of a GU ute and the springs in my swb maverick have sagged BAD, wondering if they are suitable for change over? If ya getting them for free it can't hurt to try them...the worst that can happen are that they are sh$t and you take them out.
Whack them in and go for a drive. Should only take an hour to put them in. Drop your shocks off, jack the rear up throw some jack stands under the shortys, yank the old coils out and whack the ute ones in.
I tried my mates GU wagon OE gear in mine before I threw the 4" lift in. It was *ok for a few weeks, much better than the broke ass crap I had in it.

Gee Bogged is showing his age again.
$150 a pair for new coils. I think those coils will work out fine as long as you install a gas tank, drawers, put your fridge in the back and make up a rear bar with 2 35's hanging off it.
No harm in trying though.

those gas tanks do weigh heaps so normal LWB rear coils would suit you. I don't know about the coils your mate has but it would definately be worth a try now.
