Help!!! Timing belt change in my Zook
HI Every1,
JUst need any help from any1. I was trying to do a major service on my Zook for the last couple of weeks now. I already change all the filters and SP and flushed and change oil. Flushed coolant and change all the radiator hose including metal pipe in between bottom hose(old one rusted out) So in the process of flushing the coolant, i thought to change the fan belt which is about to snap, and while i was there i thought i should change the timing belt as the car is done 130,00 km. So on Sunday i attempt to take the timing belt out with the help of the Hanes Service Manual, but forgot to read step 2 on taking timing belt out (page 2A.5). I forgot to position number one piston to Top Dead Center. This is my first time ever attempting to change timing belt in my car. I tried to mark everything what says in the book so i'm pretty sure everything should go back the way it was. the only thing is, when i was trying to take the crank shaft pulley to take the cover of the timing belt, i might have move the crank shaft a notch but tried to put it back as it was as i marked the top of the pulley where it was 0. But anyhow, i pretty sure i didn't move the camshaft. Now i'm stuck as i didn't want to just put it back and might do a massive damage.
If any1 can help me and give some advice it will be greatly appreciated.

Everything is stock as i bought from a friend for peanuts. He didn't really taken care of it, as he has the car for 7 years and never had any type of service. I bought it of him 1.5 years ago (2 weeks before i got married) and only now i got a chance to service her. This car means a lot to me as this is the last thing i bought before i got married and promise to do it up hence i'm trying to do most thing myself.
Sorry for the long post but really need all the help i can as car needs to be ressurected.

Ive never done one before, however I seem to recall reading in a manual that there is a marking on the top pully and one on the bottom pully. from memory they are supposed to face each other. does the haynes manual say anything like that? 1.3 engines are non interference so I don't think your risking any damage.

Very Easy fix, I wont use words, pictures work a treat. Hanes Manuals garbage in comparo to prpoer suzuki service manual. I've highlighted the two important bits for you.
Also to find when a piston is at TDC, you can take out the relevent sparkplug, then stick a long screw driver down the cylinder untill it touches the piston head. Then slowly turn the crank untill the screw driver comes up and starts to go back down. This shows you where TDC is within a reasonable amount of accuracy.

Cheers guys, u guys are a legend. I will try to do it tomorrow after work as i got home too late. Hopefully i dont stuff anything up (Blow up the engine) but should be alright. Everything relse are quite straight forward so wish me luch.
Highway-Star and Paul, where did u get that manual? that is way better than Haynes, more detailed and more graphics. If u can let me know where i can get hold of that and how much that will be good.
Also, anyone can tell me how to post photo on this forum as i don't know how. So i can also show u guys the developement.

As for posting images, I use www.photobucket.com Sign up and get an acount, upload pictures to your account from your machine. Then when you are typing a post, have the photobucket site open in another window. Under the mini picture of the pic you want there will be 4 addresses, copy the one with the [img] tags at the start and end, and paste it in the post your making. Then press the 'preview' button and see if it works; if yes then submit, if not try it again untill it works or you get fed up with it.
I think that sums it up.
BTW if you do post up pics in threads, please dont remove the picture from your photobucket album, because then it is also removed from your outer's post; then it sucks when you search for an old post and the important pictures are missing. (I need to learn how to use fullstops)

Im actually surprised that information is still available as another non 4x4 suzuki forum i use was threatened with being sued for making the manual information available to the public , they had to remove every link and every manual they had compiled over the years to satisfy Suzuki Motor Corporation so they werent sued.
Suzuki are pricks like that , i work on suzukis all the time and they wouldnt let me view , or print me a page or even buy the cd of a rare engine manual (k10/12 from a wagon r + , you dont see many of them ...)
they wont even sell you the "special tools" that are required to do some repairs.
I hope the Suzuki Motor Corp dont read my post or they might sue me.
