wide wheels for triton

Post by loopy »

I have a 96 model triton 4x4 twin cab diesel.

I have standard rims and want to put on wider steel rims and tyres. I borrowed some 15 x 7 rims fitted with desert duellers but the tyres hit the front wheel arch when on 1/2 lock.

What offset rims do I need to buy and what size tyres can I fit.

At a guess, I'd say you tried LandCruiser rims - typically around -23mm offset. Patrol, Navara or Pajero rims should fit - typically zero to +10mm offset.

I would expect 31x10.5s to fit without trouble - I'm not sure how much larger Tritons will take without suspension / other mods.

Cheers,

Scott

you thought the diesel was slow before the tyres.....wellllllllllllll.wait for 31's. I had 30's and boy did you have to have to give it to it. your overheating problem may get worse.

The rims I tried were 15x7 with 10R15 desert duellers from a Nissan patrol but hit on the rear of the front wheel arch when turning.

What else can I try?

This is excactly what I have been running and had no problems with clearance. Currently I have Steel prado rims with a 245/70/16 tyre. Alot more getup and go and better handling than the 31's. 31's can bog my non-turbo down though
