i,m thinking of buying a tj and i want to run 35 inch tyres.... whats involved and how much,,,just for the bear essentials cheers

if that was my goal,

id get:

4.88 ratios + front and rear air lockers= $4300 fitted

4.5 RE super flex suspension $2000 +

1"-2" body lift $300 or so

if you want to stay legal $500 for 7" flares ( cheaper to make your own, pm on on how) from wooders


i'd sugest you upgrade your axles for the D30 or even get a super D30 locker ( $500 +).

you'll need a slip yoke eliminator with cv drive shaft ( $1000 with you doing the fitting, it's easy)



i used to have a patrol on 37's, and my jeep now on 33's is just as capable, and breaks less shit.

small diffs mean more clearance, light wt. means you go further.

i have a mate with 36 pedes on a swb GQ who is thinking about selling is patrol because he's jealous my jeep gets further.

a jeep on 35's set up right is one capable machine.

just not enough room for camping gear.

i came from a zuk....it had an uncomfortable ride, had with even less space to carry stuff and i kept breaking it.

However the 35's on my tj mashed up my rear upper CA arms......that and the wheel stand.

i have had no problem with diffs and i have an auto locker in the front end, air locker in the rear. It is expensive but its also a nice shorty with plenty of maneuverability, has a grunty motor, flexed well and has plenty of clearance while being light weight.

IMHO They can get a bit unstable if you run an long arm in the front end as the front tends to "unload" when climbing hills.....this can be solved with a winch line to the front diff as they do in the WE rock buggies.

Adrenalized.... buy mine.
Already on 35's and locked.... nothing else to do to it except enjoy it.
