Bullbar question for Triton

Bullbar question for Triton
Why can't a 02 bullbar fit a 98 model. The Tritons are both MK's so I thought it should not be a problem.

Just for interest. Picked up a ARB winch bar from a 2001 onwards (mines a 1998). All holes line up fine but there is a bit (50mm) gap in front of the grill. Also it seems a bit wider as well but I have flexy flares so the bar joins in nicely with these.
One thing I did REALLY notice was the extra weight hanging out front from the standard plastic bumper bar. It's given me more oversteer and harder to turn, even with a couple of extra psi in the tyres. The arse end seems to skip around a bit more (could be my imagination though)
