i am 17 and looking to buy my second car i had a fj40 with a V8 but the laws changed after i bought it and now there is a law no V8's on P' plates. I am now looking for a manual 4x4 under $5000. any ideas.

You sure those laws are retrospective or did you just get your P's? Last I checked they were only for those who got their P's after July 1st.

what kind of 4wd driving do you intend to do?
id say zook so you can learn in it and when you break something it will be cheap to fix

zook a fun cheap and easy to fix

Patrols are alot more practical as a daily but a lil more $$ to buy and fix

What about looking into transplanting a commo 6 or something along those line's into the 40 to keep it all legal and learn alot along the way>?

mate i dont no if i told ya on 3rd rock when ya said bout sellin it for that reason but dependin on the size of the v8 you could have got a expetion cuase im lookin down the track to get and exeption and ppl who i have spoken to rekon a fj40 or fj45 with a 253 i will be able to pass
