HZJ105 Fuel Economy

Post by me3@neuralfibre.com »

I get 14L/100 on the highway. Automatic, 2" lift, bullbar, std tyres. Only extra is the AXT Turbo on the 1HZ.

I thought it would be closer to 12. Anyone else got any numbers?

This is a normal highway trip, not perfect freeway, with some overtaking and no significant load on board othre than missus and kids, sitting on 100km/hr with cruise, or 95-105 without.

Thanx

does your auto lock up on cruise? My manual 5 speed gets 12.0-12.5L on the highway. I would say that an auto doesn't help.

Anyone reckon new injectors would help much?

How old are your injectors? I'm no expert but i would have thought that you can tell if your injectors are worn by the vast amounts of black smoke and over heating. If it's over fueling it should get pretty warm, same if their not atomising properly producing hotspots/sluggishness. At the end of the day it takes a set amount of Kj of energy to make a car move at 100kms regardless of how powerful/well tuned a motor is. The energy savings come in when you eliminate energy losses i.e. heat, tyre pressures, auto trans etc.

Mine is th 4 speed Auto - A343F I think.

It does have the lockup converter.

I'll Tonka some more details after the Pyro arrives from the US, might tell me more.

If you are going the Auto, see if the 5speed is a practical option. It has a lower 1st gear from memory.
