Handbrake cable

Post by schuler »

Can anyone tell me if range rovers had 2 different handbrake cable lengths?

I have relocated my handbrake from down near my left knee to at the side of my hip as in the later models, but now my cable doesn't reach! Easy i thought , i'll get a custom cable made.... I can't find anybody who can supply the correct ends...

Both of my rovers have been played with so i don't know what is factory and what isn't. Did the early models with handbrake position near your knee use a cable or a linkage? Or can anybody suggest a solution??

Cheers

Hi,

How early is early? LT95's have a linkage mounted on the TC. All the twists and turns and number of parts to get action from the lever to the drum inspired the board game Mousetrap. I can take a photo of it if you want, but will have to email it.

Not 100% sure but i think all had linkages up untill about when the zf auto came out in 86, i know my TF727 auto rangie had a linkage and it was an 85' model.

Just alone, the 200tdi defenders came with two different lengths.

So hate to think how many there could be.

i'd dare say theyred be a different one between a lt95 rangie and a lt95 110 aswell. For a new one, i found Karcraft in silverwater the best priced, they may also be able to help you on getting the right length.

Hi Shuler,

If you let us know what TC you have, someone may have one lying around. I can help if it's a LT 95 for RR.
