flex suspension + airbags

Post by Feenz »

Bit of a curly one here, anybody done this?

I'm about to replace my springs on my 81 lux with a soft set that a mate with a haultech/superior mod hilux races. At present I have a set of snake racing shackles and will be replacing with drops. We're setting it up for flex, also TJM are putting on a towbar and I've made a 10" drop tougne for towing as its 7" above stock, for towing the boat (19',heavy).

I dont have the luxury of having a good offroader and a tow vehicle, so my question is setting up a removable airbag suspension package with soft springs with + no load springs for when I need to tow?

Thinking along the line of airbags on solid struts attatched to bolt on chassis mounts and quick-dissconect lower mounts next to shock mounts?

Any ideas, photos or knowledge appreciated. Cheers.

If ya putting drop shackles on the back you can put a narrow set of coils between the spring and locate the top using the bump stop. I did this on my dual cab for ages. Ramp it up and pop the coils in or out when needed.
