Squealing noise or a rattle?
Mine had a squeal/shriek when under acceleration, but only a little bit in fourth, and always in fifth.
I put in another transfer case for other reasons and it went away.
When it makes its little noise, put your hand on the transfer shifter and see if you can feel a vibration coming through it, or is it coming through the gearshift lever, or neither?

Try getting it up into 5th with the transfer in neutral. If it is still there it is probably gears. If not, it might be the transfer.

mine was noisey in most gears bar fourth as 4th is straight through best way i can explain it (least resistance)
rebuilt the box and she is sweet now

to make sure it is or isnt your transfer put the transfer in neutral and go through your gears. if the noise is there then it isnt your transfer..

5th was the only gear to have enough vibrations.

Yep, in the driveway.
It won't go anywhere, and there will be no drive coming through the transfer, so if the noise is still there, it probably isn't the transfer.

Mind you, it might not be there at all, even if it is not the transfer, as it might only happen under the load of pushing the vehicle. But still, it might eliminate one or two areas, and help narrow down the problem.

the noise is still there but no where as loud as when im driving.

Could be.
Does it go away if you slip the clutch in a little?

with the clutch in theres no noise at all.

and now that i think about it there is a similar noise in neutral but when i put the clutch in it goes away.

I'm not sure on this one, but do a search on thrust or throwout bearings. That might have something to do with it.
But i'm not sure seeing it is only a fifth gear thing.
