80 series sahara diff and auto box strength?

Post by vSAHARAx »

Hey all

before you jump down my throat i have searched and didnt quite all i was after.

looking at a 91 turbo diesel, Auto, 80 series sahara, has 325 000k on the clock, with the factory lockers

questions
* How strong are the auto boxes in these and whats the life expectency?
* are the front diffs stronger then the open varients, in say the gxl's?
* when the diffs flog out, am i able to do away with the elocker and install an arb locker?
* anything in general i should look out for when buying an 80 Sahara???

Cheers Troy

if it is electronic auto, it is good, but hydraulic auto had heating problems, that can be overcome with shify kits and coolers...if there is no switch on the tbar for 4th gear, its a a442 hydraulic. front diff is stronger running 4 pinions like std rear.
