I went and bought an Exedy Safari Tuff clutch for my 83 MQ SD33 Patrol. Believe it or not the spline count is the same for the GU TD42 and the clutch plate is same size as the SD33. Clutch disc is 11" though and well it is a Safari Tuff!
My only question is has anyone fitted a TD42 clutch to their MQ/MK? And if so did you use the stock SD33 clutch fork? I am just wondering if I need to use a TD42 clutch fork or if I can go with my SD33 one.
Hate to get all this here from half way around the world, then tear it all down only to find my fork won't work.
hey as far as i know, From reading here is that the sd33t had the same size clutch as a td42 but the sd33 had a smaller clutch. you can make it fit but you need a different fly wheel, not sure about clutch fork.
Hope this helps it is only what i have read on this site so if its wrong you can blame every body else

eh?
Kingy advised me on the clutch actually. He said run a Chev pressure plate and TD42 disc. But I am running the TD42 without combing the Chev/Patrol. Had 2 guys in Aus now compare the SD33 clutch to the TD42 GU clutch side by side. Spline is the same, housing size is the same, disc is smaller on SD33. Yup I know I have to drill flywheel to suit TD42 clutch, big deal.
If all I get is jackass replies no biggie. I can pretty easily mod my fork to suit the TD42 clutch.
