To grease or not to grease...

Post by sanger »

Hey all was putting my hilux front end together and have been told 2 conflicting methods. So i was wondering if most people grease the inside walls of the swivel hubs or is there no need as only cv and kingpin bearings require grease.

Please let me know what you do.

grease

cause thats what the toyota manual says :P

also, stops water and dirt flowing freely in and out, which will stop the swivel rusting out.

probably so the metal doesn't heat up from the friction/rubbing and then bend or shear when ever.

Just a guess. :)

it needs to be greased to stop the hub from rusting and to keep the wiper seals lubricated. also stops the water and dirt from comeing in and if you get a little water in it will suspend it in the grease and not eat out the bearings and the hub
